ASSESSING THE JOB
THE CONTEXTUALISED COMPETENCY MAPPING (CCM)
Overview
The CCM is a web-based software system that can be used to determine the Stratified Systems Theory (SST) level of work reflected by a position, its cognitive and broader motivational and behavioural competency requirements, and the degree to which an individual or team meets those competency requirements.
Completed by job experts, the questionnaire enables identification of the competency requirements of a position. Job requirements are then linked to individual and team profiles for purposes of gap analysis and people development. The CCM is based on the Stratified Systems Theory (SST) of E Jaques, the Viable Systems Model (VSM) of S Beer, and S M Prinsloo's work on cognition, personality and motivation.
The CCM analyses:
- The SST / VSM level of work of the position
- The cognitive and broader competency requirements of the position
- The matching of people and job profiles
